More Like Guidelines Than Actual Rules? Making Sense of Accreditation and Other Standards
-
A lot of work goes into creating a good test, and then delivering it with security and validity. Fortunately, there are sets of guidelines and international standards to guide you in the process. This presentation will provide an introduction to these: defining each, how to determine when they are relevant or possibly mandatory, and how they differ/overlap. It is ideal for those who are new to assessment, but the contrasting discussion of the various standards will be useful to experienced professionals.
Some of the most relevant standards and guidelines are NCCA (certification), NCCA (certificate), ANAB 17024, AERA/APA/NCME, ITC, and ATP.
This session is designed to be helpful to those that are new to assessment or wish to expand their knowledge outside of a certain type of assessment. Assessment professionals with extensive experience will have encountered most, if not all of these. However, because some are very specific to certain types of assessment, they might never be encountered, yet they can still be useful for evaluation.
