Virtual reality – VR – is a strong solution for teaching and assessing skills-based activities. This certification organization/vendor team has been developing an integrated VR learning and assessment application for practical skills in ultrasound scanning. In this session, the team will discuss the content development of a hands-on tutorial (‘My First Scan’), along with the first four content modules and will share lessons learned, challenges encountered, and the current status of the solution. This experience has been designed and developed using the Simulation-Based Test (SBT) framework which will be reviewed with the audience.

The VR simulation will be shown via a live demonstration or video taken from within a VR-headset. In addition, an educator’s dashboard will be shared, talking through design decisions and showing the metrics and tools provided for tracking learner performance.
