Rohana Swihart is a 2e (twice-exceptional disability) woman and Ph.D. candidate in Sustainability Education whose groundbreaking research focuses on collaborating with diverse nonprofits to co-create inclusive, immersive green apprenticeships, providing hope and opportunity to youth furthest from equity. A seasoned special education teacher and XR education coach, Rohana is passionate about leveraging emerging technologies to transform education and empower underrepresented urban learners. Her research combines virtual reality (VR), STEM education, and wellness, creating immersive pathways to prepare marginalized students for college and careers. Rohana's work is informed by neuroscience and designed to foster engagement, resilience, and inclusion. As an international presenter and recognized leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), she has secured significant grant funding to develop culturally responsive VR curricula and immersive learning experiences for opportunity youth.

In addition to her expertise in XR education, Rohana is a PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Mentor, using equine-assisted activities to support physical, emotional, and cognitive wellness for individuals with disabilities. Her holistic approach to education and well-being exemplifies her commitment to breaking barriers and nurturing growth.

Rohana’s innovative strategies, blending immersive technologies and inclusive practices, position her as a dynamic force in education. Her vision for co-creating equitable, experiential learning models inspires educators, nonprofits, and policymakers to reimagine the future of education and workforce development.
