Gary W. Procop, MD, MS, MEd is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Board of Pathology. He spent most of his career at the Cleveland Clinic where he remains a Professor of Pathology; he currently is a Microbiology consultant at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa. He completed residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Duke University, followed by a Medical Microbiology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Recently, he completed a Masters of Education through Johns Hopkins University.

His primary interests are using assessment to drive learning, promoting best practices in laboratory testing, infectious disease pathology, mycology, and parasitology.
