The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the testing industry has experienced exponential growth, particularly in item development. However, the broader potential of AI in streamlining various phases of exam development, such as domain analysis, remains underexplored. This session outlines the innovative use of AI to enhance the efficiency of the domain analysis phase within certification exam development processes. The presentation spotlights a specific case where a voluntary certification program harnessed AI capabilities to expedite the job task review process. This program employed AI to analyze relevant and up-to-date domain-related data. This data, coupled with existing test and domain specifications, was fed into a generative AI tool.

By incorporating AI into the domain analysis phase, the certification program realized improvements in efficiency and accuracy. The automated identification of potential blueprint gaps or areas requiring adjustment allowed for proactive refinement of exam content, thereby enhancing its relevance and alignment with industry standards.
