PPD Peas in a Pod Discussion

As the size of an exam's item bank increases, effectively managing and maintaining item bank health becomes crucial for ensuring the exam's reliability and validity. Proper item bank health management facilitates efficient item deployment, guarantees consistent exam reliability across multiple administrations, and mitigates the risk of breaches and unauthorized access. This, in turn, preserves the integrity of the items and safeguards the organization's credibility.

In this “Peas in a Pod” session, we will foster the discussion of three main questions.

1. How do your organizations monitor item bank health?
2. How to determine what content/psychometric gaps are in your item bank?
3. How do you know if your item bank is healthy?

Participants will be encouraged to share insights and address concerns in managing item banks within their organizations. Addressing this topic can be challenging due to the diverse needs across exam programs, influenced by factors like exam stakes and administration frequency. Additionally, it's important to note that the solutions or practices we discuss may not always be the most optimal for every organization.
