Exam Security as a Strategic Communication Tool
-
Exam security initiatives are an underutilized tool for communicating key information with examinees. We often think of the process of communicating about exam security as an adversarial process: test publishers are trying to get information from examinees and examinees are reluctant to share everything they know. However, when used strategically, exam security communications can be used to promote more effective use of publisher services, gather non-security information that may be helpful, and certainly promote better compliance with exam security requirements. In this session, the presenters will cover three strategies for better utilizing exam security to communicate effectively with examinees.
The presenters will describe how their organizations have utilized exam security initiatives to both gain better compliance with security requirements as well as advancing their organizational missions in ways that don’t directly tie into exam security. The presenters will share example webpages, communications, social media posts, and videos. The presenters will discuss how the ideas for their examples came about, challenges they faced in getting buy-in to try a different approach, and any evidence they have of the success of their efforts.
